This Sparkling Margarita is made with fresh lime juice, homemade simple syrup, and a splash of club soda to give it some fizz.  It’s an awesome summer drink but between me and you, I drink it year round!  🙂

Sparkling Margarita served in a big glass with salt on the rim and plenty of lime wedges in the background

    Regular Sugar Version… or Not?

One of my beasties helped me to come up with this concoction.

She ended up making a skinny girl version, but I thought I would stick with the “regular sugar” version for now until I feel like dusting my gym membership back off…

But I use pure cane sugar, so does that count???

    Sparkling Margarita Recipe

This drink is tart but has enough sweetness just like I like it… I also use sugar to coat the rim of my glasses to help add a little sweetness as well.  Then, you spice up this margarita with a sparkling seltzer that turns it into a punch of sorts.

It’s strong, but I still call it a bitchy drink because it’s easy on the palate because you don’t feel like to have to call the fire department after a gulp, but it’s strong enough to get you where you need to go…

Enjoy! Drinks are on me!  Cheers!

Share this tasty cocktail with every lush you know!  They will be ever so grateful! 🙂

And here is my Margarita Recipe with an ode to Hawaii.  It’s a similar recipe to the one above but it’s called a Li Hing Mui Margarita.

    Recipe Tips

    • Simple sugar recipe: ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water.
    • Mix the sugar and water together in a saucepan. Cook on low medium heat (stir frequently) until sugar has dissolved. Let mixture cool then add to whatever recipe you require simple sugar in.

    Ingredients

    • Ingredients:
    • 4 ounces simple sugar (see simple syrup recipe below)
    • 4 ounces of fresh squeezed lime juice
    • 3.5 ounces tequila
    • 1 teaspoon orange liqueur
    • ½ cup club soda
    • Sugar or salt for rim of glasses
    • Slices of lime for garnish

    Instructions

    • Directions:
    • Mix all ingredients together, and stir.
    • Spread the salt or sugar evenly onto a plate.
    • Use one of the squeezed lime wedges to moisten the rim of the desired serving glasses.
    • Then, place the serving glass upside down into the plate of salt or sugar making sure that the rim of the glass is coated with the sugar or salt (I like a lot of sugar so I twist the glasses around in the sugar a few times to give me a thick sugar rim).
    • Serve the drink over ice.
    • Garnish the rim of the glasses with lime wedges and placed some sliced limes in each glass.

    Notes

    • Simple sugar recipe: ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water.
    • Mix the sugar and water together in a saucepan. Cook on low medium heat (stir frequently) until sugar has dissolved. Let mixture cool then add to whatever recipe you require simple sugar in.
