4ouncesof fresh squeezed lime juice(reserve the squeezed limes)
3and 1/2 ounces tequila
3teaspoonsGrand Marnier or Orange Liqueur(for this recipe I used Grand Marnier)
1/2cupclub soda
Rim and Garnish Ingredients
Sugar, salt, or additional Li Hing Mui for rim of the drinking glasses
Slices of lime for garnish
Lime wedges for garnish
Instructions
Mix all drink ingredients together in a large glass or place all drink ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well.
Spread the salt, sugar, or additional Li Hing Mui evenly onto a plate.
Use one of the reserved squeezed lime wedges to moisten the rim of the desired serving glasses.
Then, place the serving glass upside down into the plate of salt, sugar, or Li Hing Mui, and twist the glass making sure that the rim of the glass is coated. (I like a lot of sugar so I twist the glasses around in the sugar a few times to get a thick sugar rim).
Serve the drink over ice.
Garnish the rim of the glasses with lime wedges and placed some sliced limes in each glass.
Notes
Simple Sugar Recipe: ½ cup sugar ½ cup waterMix the sugar and water together in a saucepan. Cook on low medium heat (stir frequently) until sugar has dissolved. Let mixture cool then add to whatever recipe you require simple sugar in.Pro Tip: Keep this as a traditional margarita and eliminate the Li Hing Mui.
